Burning Kitchen

About me

Ever since leaving home in Wigan 11 years ago I have had to learn to cook or starve. During my time at university I suppose I was very lucky as my best friend’s dad owned a butchers shop in Liverpool. This meant that for students we ate quite well. This is probably what kick started my ambition to cook. University came and went and it was time to progress my career.

I ended up working for most of my years in Liverpool in some of the biggest music venues (music being my second love). At the time this was amazing seeing the world’s top artists and Djs but time catches up with you and working until 5am started to disagree with me. Through a mutual friend I ended up working front of house in a restaurant in Birkdale. This was to become vital experience for the future little did I know. Most of my time was spent annoying the chef asking too many questions. What does this do? Why are you doing that?

An opportunity came to go and work back in Liverpool in the Ship & Mitre pub. After working for the pub setting up the menu and starting again from scratch with a none existent customer base we get to now, nearly 1 year into owning and running Burning Kitchen.
